🏡 Residential Improvement Program – Building a Better Kingman

The Residential Improvement Program (RIP) began in 2019 with a slow start, was briefly suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19, and has been going strong ever since!

From 2019 through 2024, the RIP has:
✅ Supported 67 projects – 62 of these since 2021
✅ Provided $39,516.71 in micro grants
✅ Received $250,944.62 in total community investment by residents through improvements

In 2025, there are already 14 projects underway that will continue to enhance homes and neighborhoods throughout Kingman.

This program is a proactive effort by the City Commission to invest in Kingman’s housing inventory and bring visible improvements to neighborhoods across our city.

Waste Connections informed the City this afternoon that they were unable to serve approximately 45 residences today on the Southeast side of Kingman (south of the River) today due to full trucks. Therefore, they will be servicing the missed area tomorrow morning before starting their normal Wednesday route service. If you live in this area, please leave your trash out for an early Wednesday pickup.

Trash Truck
The City received the following message from Waste Connections regarding today's trash pickups:

"I was just told that our trash driver couldn’t pick up 45 homes today due to the truck was full. It is area south of the railroad tracks. He will clean that all up tomorrow before starting his Wednesday route.

If anyone calls in, can you please tell them to leave their cart out at the curb, and we will be back first thing in the morning.

Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding."

🚧 Big News for Kingman! 🚧
The City of Kingman was notified today that it has been awarded a $1.5 million grant from KDOT to continue the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 54! This latest funding will support improvements from Broadway to just east of Douglas. This will continue progress to be made through two prior KDOT grants totaling $2.25 million for upcoming U.S. Highway 54 reconstruction from Main to Broadway.
This is the third KDOT grant awarded to Kingman for U.S. 54 reconstruction — and with the City responsible for only 5% in matching funds, it’s a major win for our community’s infrastructure and budget. 🛣️💰
This is just another example of City staff working to find grant money for projects. Thank you to KDOT for helping to keep Kingman A Great Place to Land!

The fireworks season is upon us as a community. We wanted to make sure everyone understood the local rules that govern fireworks in the city limits with the changes that occurred in state legislation this year. These ordinances are included in this post. In summary, legal fireworks (those purchased from fireworks stands) can be discharged from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. (midnight) from June 27 to July 4. However, one may possess legal fireworks year round now, but the discharge dates and times are unchanged. Everyone please be safe with fireworks and be sure children are properly supervised when fireworks are being discharged!

That very loud clap of thunder on Saturday was our water tower taking a direct lightning strike. It did a number on the tower's electrical system, but City staff had an immediate response to keep the tower functioning and water flowing. Initial repairs were done with more still needed. Many thanks to our staff members for their hard work on their day "off."

Your eyes do not deceive you! The pictures are in fact of a Budweiser Truck parked outside of the Kingman Fire Station. And yes, that is a pallet of cans off of the Budweiser truck. However, those cans are full of water. Special thanks to Anheuser-Busch and the National Volunteer Fire Council for their generous donation of a pallet of clean drinking water for our fire department, which will be shared with our county partners. The 2,352 cans of water will help our firefighters stay hydrated when it's needed the most!
