Dear Kingman Area Residents, Businesses, and Organizations,

The Kingman Economic Development Committee is proud to announce its American Flag Sponsorship Program. Every year, American flags line our Main Street from May through July, return in November, and fly year-round at our Veteran’s Memorial. These displays honor our nation, recognize our veterans, and create a powerful sense of community pride that welcomes visitors and residents alike.

The American Flag Sponsorship Program allows you to play a direct role in keeping this tradition alive. By sponsoring a flag for just $50, you help ensure that Main Street continues to showcase the values of patriotism, unity, and small-town pride. Sponsorship also supports community events and enhancements that make Kingman “A Great Place to Land.”

Each sponsor will be recognized on City social media pages throughout the year and on a sign displayed at City Hall. Our goal is to proudly display 50 new flags in honor of America’s 250th birthday in 2026 supporting a celebration of history, heritage, and the future of our community.

Please consider sponsoring today. Simply fill out the attached form and return it with a check to Kingman Flag Program, PO Box 168, Kingman, KS 67068, or drop it off at Kingman City Hall. Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we can honor our veterans, celebrate our nation, and ensure that Main Street remains a source of pride for generations to come.

Sincerely, Kingman Economic Development Advisory Committee

NOTE: Change of Plans Due To Weather! The street sealing schedule has changed due to the heavy rain. The work on Kelly and Wallace will be done today (the rain helps new millings) and Tuesday. The remainder of the streets that were scheduled for tomorrow will now be done on Tuesday as well.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Annual street sealing will occur this Friday and the upcoming Tuesday (weather permitting). The areas marked in purple will be sealed Friday. The areas marked in yellow will be sealed both Friday and Tuesday. Please do not park in the streets these two days so we can get this work done. Thanks for your cooperation.

🚫🌱 Don’t Mow Into the Street! 🌱🚫

When grass clippings are blown into the street, they don’t just disappear:
✔️ They wash into storm drains and cause blockages or localized flooding.
✔️ They end up in streams and rivers, where they add excess nutrients that harm fish and water quality.
✔️ They make roads slippery for bicycles and motorcycles, creating a safety hazard.

✅ Instead, mow so clippings stay on your lawn — they break down quickly, returning valuable nutrients to your soil.

Let’s work together to keep Kingman’s streets safe and clean!
Mow smart. Keep it off the street.

To help with the community's tree trimming needs, the City has arranged for several companies to be available the week of August 25 in Kingman. We appreciate these trimmers making this special availability possible. Anyone interested in getting their trees trimmed, this is an ideal time to get it done. Labor Day Notice - You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.

Drivers are advised that during the period of August 16 through Labor Day, September 1, the Kingman Police Department will join other law enforcement agencies across Kansas in a crackdown aimed at removing impaired drivers from the roadways during You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.

Alcohol is the main impairing substance people think of while driving, but illegal recreational drugs, such as marijuana, are just as dangerous. Driving high and or drunk can still lead to a DUI, or worse.

Those convicted of impaired driving will face stiff penalties, hefty financial consequences and time in jail. Take charge and don’t allow this to happen - designate a sober driver, take public transportation, or stay home. The You Drink. You Drive. You Lose enforcement campaign is intended to remind drivers to take a moment to consider how it would be to begin every day with the memory of your decision if it resulted in injury or death

Make the right choice.
