Are you ready for the snow? Our Public Works Director wanted to share our road treatment priority maps. One is for the salt/sand truck and the other is for the road grader to clear snow. Other equipment follows the grader to clear intersections and driveways. In the event that we receive less than 3" of snow, only the salt/sand truck will run unless drifting occurs. We take many variables (wind, extended low temps, duration of storm, etc.) into account with winter storms so it is possible that we will adjust our plan as needed as the storm progresses.

Stay safe and warm, Kingman!

Warning: This morning we found tar paper, shingles and other trash in the tree limb disposal site. City crews had to pick through the pile and was able to fill a loader with trash. The ONLY thing allowed is tree limbs. No lumber, grass clippings, leaves, etc. Further violation of this rule will result in immediate permanent closer of the dump site.

Tip: Make sure that you are not piling limbs on top of debris that may get pulled out when you unload limbs.

Kingman Police Department Thanksgiving campaign stresses the importance of buckling up.

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest traveling holidays, with that comes an increase in crashes. The Kingman Police Department wants to remind everyone to always buckle up.

Kingman Police Department joins law enforcement across the state to provide education about the importance of seat belts. Drivers can expect to see increased law enforcement presence on local roads during the statewide Thanksgiving Safe Arrival campaign, which runs from Nov. 22-29.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Being buckled up during a crash helps keep you safe and secure in your vehicle.

The right fit matters:
• The shoulder belt should lay flat across the middle of the chest and away from the neck
• The lap belt should fit across the hip, not stomach
• Never put the seat belt behind the back or under the arm
• Children should be properly restrained in car seats according to weight, age and height

For more information on seat belts go to www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle-safety/seat-belts.
