City of Kingman EMS Chief:

The City of Kingman is accepting applications for the position of full-time EMS Chief. Kingman EMS is a progressive service that covers 720sq miles of Kingman County with approximately 950-1050 calls a year. Kingman is located just 30 minutes west of Wichita on U.S. Hwy 54. It is preferred that the EMS Director live within 20 minutes of the station. The full-time EMS Chief works 40 hours/week and is a salaried position.

The qualified applicant must have at least three years of experience responding to 9-1-1 emergency calls as an advanced provider. The EMS Chief directs and supervises all employees of the EMS department, including medical personnel and rescue personnel. The EMS Chief will also respond to calls and functions as a paramedic in addition to administrative office functions. The Chief will often times be staffed with lower certifications including the level of EMR and must be comfortable with prolonged transport times of critical patients in a rural setting under liberal protocols.

Qualified candidates will need to have a valid driver’s license and Kansas certification as a Paramedic. Candidates must obtain NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, and 700 within 12 months of hire.  Candidates must pass KBI background check, pre-employment physical, and urine drug screen.

RESCUE TECHNICIAN – PART-TIME

Kingman EMS is currently accepting applications for part-time Rescue Technicians. Rescue Technicians are paid hourly and respond to a wide variety of EMS calls throughout Kingman County. Calls may range from car accidents to medical emergencies. You must be at least 18 years of age and live within the City of Kingman. No experience is necessary, but candidates should be comfortable lifting and using heavy hydraulic rescue tools. Rescue technicians also assist medics in medical emergencies, such as performing CPR and lifting/moving the sick and injured. Candidates will be required pass background screens, drug testing, and pre-employment physical. Rescue technicians respond voluntarily and are paid per hour when responding with one hour paid minimum. Volunteer Firefighters:  The City of Kingman is looking for energetic and eager members for its volunteer fire department.  The fire department provides Kingman and some of the surrounding townships with essential fire protection.  Members of the fire department are part-time City employees who are paid a small stipend for training, meeting attendance, and fire call responses.  Training meetings are held on Wednesday evenings.

Personal protective equipment is provided to firefighters.  The time commitment is dependent upon the number of calls received.  While this is a volunteer service, it is very helpful if members respond to as many calls as possible when they are in the area.   The City of Kingman is an equal opportunity employer.

City of Kingman Ground Hand.  The City of Kingman is accepting applications for a Ground Hand with the Electric Utility. The Ground Hand is responsible for learning the appropriate use of hand and power tools, construction materials, and safety aspects of the job.  The Ground Hand assists the Department’s line crew in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground circuits.  The Ground Hand also assists in the maintenance of substations and associated equipment.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma (or GED) and a Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one.  Applicants should be able to lift approximately 50 pounds.  The City will provide in-house training.
