Kingman he became a U.S. Marshall
at Kingfisher, Oklahoma.
The second City Marshall appointed
by the city council was James
Shepherd "Shep" Wrenchey, whose
name is mounted on the name plaque
of the 1888 City Hall building.

Staff
The Kingman police department employs seven (7)
commissioned police officers including the Chief of
Police, two captains, and four patrol officers. All
Kingman police officers are dual trained as law
enforcement officers and emergency medical
technicians.

Minimum Qualifications for Patrol Officer:
U. S. Citizen
Be at least 21 years old by the time of hire.
High school Graduate or have a GED certificate.
Has no criminal record.
No convictions or expunged convictions by any state or federal
government of a crime which is a felony or equivalent under the
Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Good moral character.
Completed and passed a psychological evaluation.
Free of physical or mental condition which might adversely affect the
applicants performance of a police officer or law enforcement officer
duties.
Hiring Procedure
Meet all entrance requirements.
File an application with the Chief of Police.
Application review.
Candidate selection made for interviews.
Interviews conducted.
Background investigation.
Psychological evaluation completed.
Physical examination.
Appointment.
Six-month training period - Academy training if needed.
