CITY MANAGER REPORT:
February 6, 2012

The city has started the new year in good financial condition, with Sales Tax Revenues higher than projected. The Sales Tax revenue for 2011 was the highest since the sales tax was implemented.

The city refinanced the Airport Bonds, the Waste Water Loans from KDHE which financed the construction of the Waste Water Plant, and an infrastructure bond. The refinancing of the Bonds and Loans saved the city, and the residents of the city approximately $240,000 over the term of the bonds. The city was able to refinance the bonds at an optimal time, receiving an interest rate of around two (2%) percent over the term of the bonds. Great news.

The street crew has been working on a number of dirt streets around the city. The city realizes that in the short term, some inconvenience will be experienced by the residents, but in the longer term, the city anticipates better overall road conditions.
